The Girl From Alsoar
Astro Boy and his family go on a skiing trip, but it gets interrupted when some strange spaceships appear from another planet. He meets a girl named Violet from the Alsoar system. She warns Astro that the ships have come to get water from the earth. The robots have malfunctioned and instead of asking for the water, they are going to take it by force.

ESRB rates PS2 port of Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow

Are you one of the few that still need new content on your PS2? Looks like Sony may be reaching into the depths of its PSP archive to find more ports to bring to the aging console. The ESRB has appended its rating for Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow — the latest (and arguably greatest) entry in Sony’s stealth franchise — with both PSP and PS2 as the listed platforms.
It seems quite a stretch that Sony would invest the time and money to release a PS2 port so late into its life cycle (we’ve contacted Sony and the ESRB, to be clear). And while Logan’s Shadow is a terrific game, it’s strange that Sony would want to port a game that is already nearly three years old. Perhaps that effort could be better used on creating a PS3 iteration of the franchise?
[Thanks, Matt S.]

‘The Vampire Diaries’ and Microsoft team up, try to add ‘Binged’ to the lexicon
If you were watching last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries (believe us, we were not), you probably saw something a little… strange. Yes, with the opening credits still running, two women (sorry, we have never seen a frame of this show so we don’t know who these broads are) sitting in front of a laptop converse about a runaway teen named Isabelle Peterson or something like that. Unsure of whether or not this suspicious Peterson character was using a fake name or not, the ladies needed… well, they needed a tool that would allow them to search the vast and beautiful world wide web of information. “But where’d she get Peterson? Classmate? Best friend?” the blond sitting at the terminal wonders. “So…” she says, turning to the computer, “… I Binged it.” Wait, what? You Binged it? Hmm… we’ve never heard that one before, though we have to say in this case, it seems like Bing really came through for the ladies, nailing down the information they were looking for with ease. It’s quite an extended piece of advertising, really. But seriously… Binged? Guess it’ll have to do. Video is after the break.
[Thanks, Eva]

HTC Incredible out in the wild once more, Verizon color scheme alive and well
Android Forums is alight today with fresh HTC Incredible chatter — a phone every Android fan on Verizon is desperately waiting for — and we’ve managed to glean a few more pictures and possible specs out of the mess. It looks like we can expect a half gig of RAM with about 320MB available (roughly the same as what you find on the Nexus One) and an 8 megapixel cam, but interestingly, the phone’s Snapdragon core is apparently underclocked to 768MHz, almost certainly a battery-saving measure on HTC’s part; fortunately, the Sense-powered Android 2.1 firmware is still said to be “blazing fast.” It measures 117.5 x 58.5 x 11.9mm — just a hair narrower, shorter, and thicker than its Nexus One doppelganger, small enough of a difference so that we think it’ll be virtually indistinguishable in person. As shots go, we’re seeing now that HTC has moved from the brightly-colored glossy shell to a soft-touch black one while keeping the strange contours; we think there’s at least a chance that this is final ID, too, since the Verizon logo is silkscreened at the bottom. Inside, the entire thing (including the battery itself) is a shockingly loud shade of red, mirroring an odd design trend first seen on the HD mini. We definitely dig it. If the stats over on the forum hold up, the Incredible’s on track for a launch in April or May, so it’s still a few weeks off — in the meanwhile, we encourage you to check out more of the new shots after the break.
[Thanks, Matt and EBBY]

Google hits Android ROM modder with a cease-and-desist letter
So this is interesting: apparently Google’s hit the developer of the Cyanogen modded Android ROM with a cease-and-desist letter, asking him to stop distributing the closed-source Google apps like Gmail, Maps, and YouTube. What’s a little strange is that Cyanogen is targeted at “Google Experience” devices like the G1 and myTouch, so it’s not like Google is really protecting anything here — leading us to wonder if they’re just using the copyright argument to shut down a popular mod that’s tempted over 30,000 users into rooting their phones. That’s just speculation on our part, though — the dev says he’s trying to open a dialogue with Google, so perhaps we’ll find out some more answers soon.
